Richard Trautmann

Richard Trautmann (born February 7, 1969 in Munich ) is a German judoka and Olympic medalist .

Richard Trautmann has already achieved many successes at youth and junior championships, for example, in addition to German championship titles in the individual and with the team of TSV München Großhadern, he won the European junior championship in the weight class up to 60 kilograms.

The most outstanding successes of his active career are the two bronze medals at the Olympic Games in Barcelona in 1992 and Atlanta in 1996 . At world championships he was able to achieve a third (1993) and a fifth place (1995). He also won the title in the weight class up to 65 kg at the 1996 International German Championship .

On June 23, 1993, he received the Silver Laurel Leaf for his athletic achievements.

Since November 2016, Trautmann has been the national coach of the German Judo Association as the successor to Detlef Ultsch and continues to be a trainer in his home club TSV Großhadern. In December 2010 he was awarded the 6th Dan degree (red and white belt).
