A tendinopathy (derived from latin tendo = tendon and Greek páthos (πάθος) = suffering; German tendons Leiden) is the medical term for a primary noninflammatory disease of the tendons due to overeating, excessive loads or wear ( degeneration ). In the area of ​​the tendon insertions , one speaks of an insertion tendinopathy or enthesopathy . This can develop into an inflammation called tendonitis .

In terms of therapy, the focus is on protection and the future avoidance of excessive or incorrect stress. Cooling as well as medication to reduce pain and inflammation with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs can be used as support.
