Torsten René Gutsche (born June 8, 1968 in Eisenhüttenstadt ) is a German canoeist , multiple world champion and three-time Olympic champion .

Career

The canoe racers of KC Potsdam won with his partner Kay Bluhm at the Olympic Games in Barcelona in 1992 a gold medal in the double kayak over 500 m and 1000 m.

For this he received the silver bay leaf on June 23, 1993.

At the Olympic Games in Atlanta in 1996 , he repeated his success with a gold medal over 500 m. He also won a silver medal over 1000 m in a two-person kayak.

Then he switched to the four-person kayak in order to win four more in addition to his seven world championships in two-person kayak.

His last major competition was the 1999 Canoe World Championships in Milan, where he won a gold medal (500 m) and a silver medal (1000 m) in a four-person kayak. In 2000 he was injured and could not qualify for the Olympic Games in Sydney 2000.

Then he ended his career.
