Andreas Ihle (born June 2, 1979 in Bad Dürrenberg ) is a German canoeist .

He started canoe racing in 1988 at KC Bad Dürrenberg and has been racing for SC Magdeburg since 1992 .

Ihle was able to qualify for the national team for the first time in 2000 and took fourth place in a two-man kayak with Olaf Winter at the Olympic Games in Sydney . In 2001 he became world champion in the four-man kayak over 1000 m and then won four other medals at world championships. At the Olympic Games in Athens in 2004 he was a silver medalist in a four-person kayak over 1000 m.

Ihles participation in the Olympic Games in Beijing 2008 was questionable for a long time after his partner Rupert Wagner dropped out with an illness prior to the qualifying World Cup regatta in Duisburg. Finally, he and Martin Hollstein competed in the two-man kayak over 1000 m and was able to prevail against Norman Zahm and Marcus Groß and thus secure his third participation in the Olympics. There Ihle and Hollstein surprisingly won the gold medal in a two-person kayak over 1000 m.

At the European Championships in Belgrade in 2011, Ihle and Hollstein won gold in a two-person kayak over 1000 m. At the Olympic Games in London in 2012 , he and Hollstein won the bronze medal in a two-man kayak over 1000 m.

Ihle is a sports soldier in the sports promotion group of the Bundeswehr in Frankfurt (Oder) . He lives in Magdeburg .
