Rupert Wagner (born August 7, 1980 in Rosenheim ) is a German canoeist .

Wagner started in 1992 at the Rosenheim canoe club in white water racing and in canoe slalom (German student champion 1994 in individual and team in downhill and slalom), but switched to canoe racing in 1998 and was already junior European champion in four-man kayak that year . In 2005 he was able to qualify for the national team in the performance class for the first time. At the 2006 World Championships in Szeged , he and Andreas Ihle took second place in a two-man kayak over 1000 m. At the 2007 World Championships in Duisburg, the duo narrowly failed with fourth place because of a medal. With the same - for the association unsatisfactory - they finished the European Championships in 2008. At the World Cup in Szeged, which was decisive for the participation in the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 , Wagner was changed to a two with newcomer Martin Hollstein and missed over 500 meters with a den fourth place is the norm, as Olympic champions Ronald Rauhe and Tim Wieskötter finished second in the race. The second chance at the following World Cup in Duisburg , where he was supposed to compete with Ihle over 1000 m against Norman Zahm and Marcus Groß , he could not use because of an illness. The association then decided to let Ihle ride with Hollstein, who then prevailed against Zahm / Groß in a jump-off and then became Olympic champion in Beijing.

The graduate engineer has been working for KG Essen since 2005 . Before that, he was a member of MTV Munich 1879 .
