Manfred Jenning
Manfred Jenning (born March 8, 1929 in Augsburg , † December 7, 1979 ) was a German house author , game director, director and spokesman for the Augsburger Puppenkiste .
Life
Jenning was initially an actor at the Augsburg Theater . When his colleague Walter Oehmichen opened his newly founded puppet theater, the Augsburger Puppenkiste, with the play Puss in Boots in February 1948 , he hired Jenning as a puppet guide and speaker. Jenning quickly became a house author. As early as the turn of the year 1950/51, the 21-year-old brought a cabaret program for adults to the puppet stage, opening a tradition. The premieres of the new productions still take place on New Year's Eve. Jennings' role became particularly important for television broadcasts produced since 1953. Their production returned after a short interlude with Bayerischer Rundfunk in 1959 to Hessischer Rundfunk after the latter had offered the production of a multi-part series. Jenning then wrote The Moomin Family, directed by Harald Schäfer. The broadcast was a success and the shape of the multi-part became the common concept of the doll box. Also in 1959, Jenning made his debut as a television broadcast director with the first episode of Klecksi's Adventures. Like many others, this series was broadcast as part of the ARD program Sandmännchen . Other multi-part series such as Urmel from the ice, Bill Bo and his cronies, Little King Kalle Wirsch and finally Sams became television episodes throughout Germany. However, Jennings's greatest success is by far the four-part film Jim Button and Lukas the Locomotive Driver , which was broadcast in 1977 and whose plot is based on a children's book written by Michael Ende in 1960 . Only two years later Manfred Jenning died at the age of 50 after a long illness. His successor in television productions was Sepp Strubel . Jenning wrote a total of over 600 scripts for the Augsburger Puppenkiste. Jenning left behind his wife Rosemarie.
