The Museum rat is a German puppets - television series of the Augsburg Puppet Theater , which from 1967 to 1972 in nine episodes from the Hessian Radio was produced. The last two episodes were shot in color .

action

The rat father Friedrich Wilhelm wants to give his sons Franz Josef and Karl Theodor education and visits with them various museums in West Germany and Austria . Franz Josef and Karl Theodor were born in the Army History Museum in Vienna . In the first episode, the museum rats in the Offenbach Leather Goods Museum receive a pair of giant seven-mile boots in which they can travel quickly and safely from one museum to another.

The museum visits are exhausting for father Friedrich Wilhelm, as both sons are constantly hungry and are distracted by it. In the museums they experience all kinds of adventures, for example when they encounter the ghost of Baron Münchhausen or a cat . At times they are followed by two detectives who are portrayed by the two directors. Secondary characters are the water rat Fietje, the ballet rat Mizzerl and Mizzerl's father Johann Wolfgang. At the end of the first eight episodes, the visit to the next museum is announced.
