The anxious Mr. Taschenbier lives in a small town with Mrs. Rotkohl in her house. He's afraid of almost everything. One day on the street he saw passers-by get angry with a strange being. The Sams is a cheeky, disrespectful being who can grant wishes. Mr. Taschenbier decides to take it with him. Mr Taschenbier learns that Sam has wishful points with which it can fulfill wishes. But wishing turns out to be a not so simple matter. The trouble begins. Strangely enough, Mr. Taschenbier is getting used to the Sams.

The shooting at the Augsburger Puppenkiste for a week full of Saturdays took place from March 17th to April 6th 1977. The marionette game of the Augsburger Puppenkiste follows the plot of the book of the same name by Paul Maar from 1973, true to the original . The film music was composed by Hermann Kropatschek . On July 12, 1977 from 4:50 p.m. to 5:40 p.m., the film was first broadcast on ARD . In 1980 came the second part on Saturday, the Sams came back , after the children's book of the same name by Paul Maar. A week full of Saturdays was released on DVD together with the follow-up part under the name "Das Sams".
