Sepp Strubel

Josef "Sepp" Strubel (born October 3, 1939 in Worms ; † February 25, 2018 ) was a German actor , filmmaker , screenwriter , director , children's book author, painter and sculptor .

Life

Sepp Strubel wrote the scripts for numerous films, including for the Augsburger Puppenkiste , directed and has been involved in the production of around 70 films for the ARD program Sandmännchen since 1965 . He was married to the actress Claudia Hansmann-Strubel , with whom he has three grown children. He was also a sculptor , wrote children's books and played in theaters and on television.

Strubel last lived in Augsburg . He died after a brief illness on February 25, 2018 at the age of 78.

Sepp Strubel was a graduate of the Otto Falckenberg School in Munich. There he met his future wife Claudia Hansmann.

Parallel to his theater work in Augsburg, Strubel took on speaking roles at the Augsburger Puppenkiste from 1963 .

Work at the Augsburger Puppenkiste

After Manfred Jenning's death in 1979, he succeeded him at the Augsburger Puppenkiste in 1980, after having produced the series Natur & Technik in the 1970s . His first wife and children also spoke some roles in his plays. From now on he wrote the scripts and directed. The broadcaster Hessischer Rundfunk broadcast all episodes. In 1992 his career as a director at Puppenkiste ended with the production of Three Jungle Detectives.

He also wrote the scripts for the Augsburger Puppenkiste plays Das Burggespenst Lülü (1993), Der Zauberer Schmollo (1994) and Der Raub der Mitternachtssonne (1995), for which Manfred Mohl took over the direction.
