Don Blech und der Goldene Junker is a four-part television series by the Augsburger Puppenkiste from 1973 . The film is based on the children's book of the same name by Max Kruse .

action

The plot was divided into four sections according to the four episodes.

Hollow head and rattle barrel

After the tin can army was disbanded at Prince Panja's request, General Don Blech went into retirement. Together with his son Donito, he made an equestrian statue, which he named Junker Hohlkopf and Scheppertonne at midnight . When lightning strikes, the still image comes to life. The evil Junker Hollowhead threatens to destroy the world and rides his horse Scheppertonne away. He is wreaking havoc everywhere and Don Blech decides to chase after the Junker. Together with his friends Tura, the Turaco bird, the bull Schmuser and Donito, Don Blech sets out the next day to confront the Junker. However, they are mistaken for bad knights by the villagers, condemned and thrown into a dungeon.

The Didniks

With his conquest of the sea, the Junker hollow head caused considerable damage. Meanwhile, Tura uses a trick to free his still trapped friends from the dungeon. Now they are chasing the golden Junker on the sea, who has meanwhile conquered the island of the Didniks. The Didniks are friendly little human creatures that are able to fly. They would like to get to know real people and are all the more shocked when Junker Hohlkopf proclaims himself king and terrorizes them. Among other things, he takes the castle of the mayor and village wise man Adnik.

Nassi

The desperate Didniks get advice from the sea monster Nassi on how they can defeat the Junker. They are trying to chase the Junker away with ghosts. Since he doesn't seem to be afraid, they persuade Nassi to get rid of the Junker in return for honey. The following night Nassi eliminates the Junker and Scheppertonne over the well. The next day Don Blech finally reached the Didnik island. However, the Didniks consider him an evil knight and arrest him and his friends.

A feast

Contrary to the expectations of the Didniks, Junker Hohlkopf survived. The Didniks have become friends with Don Blech and his friends. Together they go to war against Junker Hohlkopf and Scheppertonne. In the fight, Don Blech finally defeated the Junker with his pincers. To celebrate this event, the Didniks give a big festival for everyone.

reception

Michael Reufsteck and Stefan Niggemeier describe the series in the television dictionary as a "less recommendable piece [...]" by the Augsburger Puppenkiste. They justify this with the "practical use of force" which often occurs, which "but at least at the same time [through] indolence" is propagated.
