action

Episode 1: The lion is loose

When the vet Doc forgets to close the lion cage one day, the lion manages to escape. Although he doesn't actually harm anyone, the whole town gets into an uproar, including the chatty Frau Wiisstihrschon and the postman, who can no longer remember who to deliver the important letter to. The siblings Kim and Pips also hear about the lion. Despite Kim's warnings, Pips goes for a walk outside. She meets a boy named Tralala who claims to know a secret word that lions use to shake hands. Eventually Pips falls into a hole where she meets the lion and becomes friends with him. Then the two are pulled out by a search party consisting of Kim, Tralala and the African lioncatcher Totokatapi. As they cross the bridge on their way home, the bridge keeper falls into the river for fear of the lion. The lion jumps after him to save him, but ends up in the washtub that Totokatapi uses as a boat and is driven away while the bridge keeper is rescued.

In the meantime, the postman has remembered who the important letter was for: It is an invitation to Kim and Pips from their father Guckaus and their uncle Hiccup to visit the lighthouse island.

Episode 2: The Storm

Kim and Pips travel with their tomcat Schipp to the lighthouse island, where father Peckaus and uncle Hiccup live with the goat Zie. One day an unexpected visitor comes during a storm: the trimmed cockatoo Ka, which was hiding from its brutal owner, who also trimmed him, was washed up in a box and was then caught by the storm. Ka is warmly welcomed by the residents. Guckaus explains to them that Ka was very lucky. The "parrot eater island " is located nearby and is home to a negro family who like to eat parrots.

When Ka Schipp wants to demonstrate how he got into the box, he is caught again by the current and washed away. Kim, Pips, Schipp and Zie follow him in a boat to prevent him from landing on the island of the parrot eater.

Episode 3: Cockatoo in distress

The cockatoo Ka is actually washed up on the beach of the parrot eater island and caught unceremoniously by the natives Nenemama and Nenepapa, who want to roast it so that their sick daughter Nenekiki can get well again. Ka's protest that he is a cockatoo and not a parrot is ignored, as Nenemama and Nenepapa believe that cockatoos probably taste even better. Ka pretends to be a doctor in order not to be eaten, but Nenekiki gets a cold due to his prescriptions. The parents decide to eat Ka all the more.

At the same time, Kim, Pips, Schipp and Zie land on the island together with Löwe and a seagull named Möwe, whom they met. They sneak to the parrot-eater's hut, only lion remains to guard the boat. However, he falls asleep when he takes sleeping pills believing that they are against sleep. The children and the animals manage to exchange Ka for the painted Mö. To her horror, she is locked in a cage before Nenemama and Nenepapa go to collect coconuts. On the beach they see the strange boats and decide to sink them and lock up the intruders. While Ka sneaks away with his friends, Pips turns around to make Nenekiki healthy with pills and to free Seagull. She learns from Nenekiki that her parents have captured a little boy whom they want to marry off to her.

On the beach, the rest of the group had a nasty surprise: Nenemama and Nenepapa have taken their boats and want to sink them. Ka and his friends are now their prisoners: Kim is supposed to chop Nenepapa's wood, while Nenemama wants to slaughter Ka and Zie and use Schipp to make a fur collar. Seagull wakes up Leo, who can prevent Nenemama and Nenepapa from destroying the boats and Kim and his friends from being captured. He wants to devour the two, but stops when Pips and Nenekiki, who is well again, join them. Nenekiki's parents promise never to eat parrots again. They also have to release the little boy they captured to marry off their daughter. It's Totokatapi. The island is now renamed "Parrot Keeper Island". Ka decides to stay on the island until he can fly again.

At that moment, Doc and the dog Wu come to the island with a plane, as well as Father Guckaus and Uncle Hiccups with a boat, as they were looking for the children, and are greeted warmly by those present.

Episode 4: Sultan in the trap

When Kim and Pips read in the newspaper that the lion has been sighted in Sultania and the Sultan wants to have him captured, they travel to Sultania with their dog Wu and Doc, where they befriend the Sultan and his advisor, a camel . The sultan promises not to catch lion.

Through a keyhole, Wu observes a meeting of conspirators who want to overthrow the Sultan by throwing him to the lion they are holding captive. Since Wu only sees the conspirators from behind, he does not know that their leader is the Grand Vizier. Nevertheless, he tells his friends about it, who warn the Sultan. Although the Sultan had a trapdoor built under the carpet in front of his throne for precisely such cases, he is kidnapped. The Grand Vizier disguises himself as a carpet seller and asks the Sultan to stand on the carpet to prove its quality and then flips the switch for the trap door, trapping the Sultan with his own trap. He takes the Sultan to a cellar, where he starves the lion with the help of a ham hung from the ceiling.

Episode 5: Leo good, all good

Leo spares the Sultan when he hears that he knows Pips. By standing on the lion's shoulders, the Sultan succeeds in fetching the ham so that the lion will be satisfied. The Grand Vizier, who keeps looking in through a hatch, makes Leo believe that he has eaten the Sultan because he lies down on him so that he cannot be seen. The camel, which is later thrown into the dungeon, is also spared. In the meantime, the children and Doc decide that the disappearance of the Sultan must not be noticed, so Doc is disguised as a Sultan. That suits the Grand Vizier just in time, because he has Doc kidnapped in order to make him responsible for the conspiracy. In the meantime, Kim, Pips and Wu, who has recognized the Grand Vizier as one of the conspirators, manage to free the real sultan, the camel and the lion. Doc can hypnotize the Grand Vizier to sleep and then puts on his clothes to escape from prison. Outside he is almost eaten by the lion, who doesn't recognize him in his disguise, when Kim, Pips, Wu, the sultan and the camel come and help him. The lion and his friends are now guests of honor in Sultania.

characters

  • The two siblings Kim and Pips Guckaus live with their pets, the dog Wu and the cat Schipp in an apartment in the city of Somewhere. In addition to the lion, they are the actual main characters who always try (usually without the help of adults) to help their friends, especially the lion. They save Ka from the parrot-eaters and later the Sultan from conspirators. Kim is also very worried about his sister and often takes the lead in a group: he forms a search party with Tralala and Totokatapi in order to save Pips and Löwe from a pit in the end. On Parrot Eater Island, Kim takes the lead in the group that frees Ka while Pips goes unnoticed. Kim and Ka, Schipp and Zie get captured by the hungry parrot-eater. Only Leo can save Kim and his friends. The good-natured Pips often ignores Kim's instructions not to put herself in danger if she believes she is doing the right thing. In doing so, she usually makes friends with the people she is warned about, such as the lion and Nenekiki.
  • The title-giving lion is actually a good-natured animal that only broke out because it couldn't endure captivity. He is friends with Kim and Pips and cares about the latter the most. When he sees his friends in danger, he usually saves them by trying to devour those who threaten them, which he is prevented from doing. So he saves Kim, Ka, Schipp and Zie from being eaten by Nenemama and Nenepapa, and throws himself on the disguised Doc, whom he thinks is the evil grand vizier. Otherwise he is a comparatively tame animal and also gets along with the other pets of the children. Since the first episode, Löwe has been using Totokatapi's boat, a washtub, to get to Africa, repeatedly crossing the paths of Kim and Pips.
  • Doc is the city vet who made it possible for the lion to escape because he forgets to close the cage. During the lion hunt, Doc becomes his friend too. When the children later disappear because they are looking for Ka, Doc sets off by plane to search. Together with the children, he also travels to Sultania to save the lion. One also learns that he is a master at hypnosis . This enables him to escape the captivity of the traitorous grand vizier who wants to hang the conspiracy on him.
  • Totokatapi is an African boy whose job it is to catch the lion and who helps Kim find pips. Leo finally drifts away in his boat, a washtub. Later Totokatapi ends up with the parrot-eaters, who lock him up to marry him off to their daughter. In the end he is released and meets his friends again in Sultania, where he works in a hotel
  • Father Guckaus and Uncle Hiccup , along with the goat Zie , are the residents of the lighthouse island, and Kim and Pips invite them over. Guckaus is the lighthouse keeper who explains to the washed up Ka and the others how lucky he was not to end up with the parrot-eaters. Hiccups suffer from severe hiccups. He lives in a hut next to the lighthouse and passes the time fishing. Both adults set out when Kim and the animals set off in a boat to save Ka from Nenemama and Nenepapa. But they only arrive when the adventure is over.
  • Ka is a cockatoo that belonged to a seaman who clipped its wings. Out of fear of him, Ka had hidden and was washed into the sea. He quickly makes friends with the children and the other residents of the lighthouse island. When he lands on Parrot Eater Island and is in danger of being eaten, he tries to pretend to be a doctor to get free, but fails because he makes Nenekiki even sicker. He is eventually rescued by his friends and remains on the island after it was decided that from now on no more parrots should be eaten.
  • Seagull meets lion in the sea, who is happy that their names rhyme, and Ka, who is helplessly floating in the sea. She later helps Kim, Pips, Schipp, Zie and Löwe to get to the parrot eater island. There Pips paints the seagull and exchanges it for Ka. But then it is she who, despite all the begging and pleading, is to be eaten until she is freed of pips.
  • Nenemama and Nenepapa are two dark-skinned natives on parrot- eater island who live in a hut in the jungle. They take Ka, which they believe to be a parrot, captured to fry. They also captured the young African Totokatapi in order to marry him off to their daughter. Nenemama and Nenepapa don't like strangers, which is why they decide to let Kim, Schipp and Zie, who helped Ka work, work for them and eat them. However, Leo can prevent that. After learning that their daughter is healthy, they promise her that they will never eat parrots again and that they will release Totokatapi. Ka is now a welcome guest and becomes the first patient of the self-appointed parrot keepers.
  • Nenekiki is the daughter of Nenemama and Nenepapa and the third resident of the parrot eater island. Since she is sick, she should be made healthy by frying ka for her. Unlike her parents, she doesn't want to eat Ka, but they don't listen to her. When Pips pills her with pills for the runny nose that Ka's attempt to heal her so as not to be fried, she tells her new friend that her parents caught Totkatapi. She finally demands that they never eat parrots again and that they also let go of the captured Totokatapi, who was supposed to marry them against his will. She befriends Ka, who stays with her.
  • The Sultan is the ruler of the Empire of Sultania. When the lion shows up in his land, he wants to have it captured, but then Doc, Kim and Pips convince him not to. After learning that a conspiracy is underway, he prepares with a trapdoor in front of his throne. However, this does not help him, because the disguised grand vizier can catch him with exactly this trap. With the help of Kim, Pips and Wu, he, the camel and the lion manage to escape from their prison.
  • Kamel is the wise but fearful adviser to the Sultan. From the very beginning he dreams of conspirators whom he cannot recognize, but just as they turn around, he is woken up by the Grand Vizier, who is actually the leader of the conspirators. Like the sultan, the camel is also to be fed to the lions, but they are spared and later rescued.
  • The Grand Vizier is next to the camel the closest confidante of the Sultan. However, he wants to overthrow the sultan and locks the lion in a cellar. Nobody suspects that the Grand Vizier is pulling the strings behind the conspiracy until the dog Wu remembers to have seen him among the conspirators. Ironically, the Grand Vizier of all people has to serve as the test person for the trap against the conspirators, a trapdoor under a carpet. The Grand Vizier then uses this trap door in disguise to catch the Sultan and bring him to the lion, who secretly spares him. The Grand Vizier later kidnaps the disguised Doc to attach the conspiracy to him. However, this can hypnotize and imprison him.

Songs

Like most of the items in the doll box, it also includes The Lion is Going! Songs:

  • "Lion song" (sung by Pips and Tralala): While the children go for a walk outside, they sing about the panic that prevails because of the lion's breakout ("that's why the streets are so empty and completely deserted ...").
  • Fine parrot (sung by Nenemama, Nenepapa, Ka and later also Nenekiki): Nenemama and Nenepapa sing about how they want to cook and eat Ka or how they are already preparing the saucepan. Kas heckling: "I'm not a parrot!" are ignored by the hungry natives ("That tastes us gu-gu").
