The Canoeing Community Essen (KG Essen) is a canoe club in Essen .

The club was founded in 1971 as a training and competition community of several canoeing clubs operating in Essen and is one of the most successful canoeing clubs in Germany.

The boathouse is on the Baldeneysee , on which there is also a regatta course .

The club's athletes have won numerous medals at world championships and the Olympic Games , and the club is also doing successful youth work.

The most successful athletes of the club include u. a. Lutz Altepost , Katrin Borchert , Jonas Ems , Max Hoff , Lutz Liwowski , Max Rendschmidt , Thomas Reineck , Nadine Opgen-Rhein , Jan Schäfer , Barbara Schüttpelz , Tomasz Wylenzek , Rupert Wagner and Olaf Winter .

cooperation

The Essen Canoeing Association cooperates with the North Rhine-Westphalia Performance Center and the elite sports school , the Helmholtz Gymnasium . The athletes go to the so-called sports boarding school after school . There they have lunch and do homework or other school things. Then they drive to the Baldeneysee to train there.
