Katrin Borchert (born November 4, 1969 in Waren (Müritz) ) is a former German-Australian canoeist who competed in international championships for Germany and Australia .

Katrin Borchert, who trained at SC Neubrandenburg , was already a member of the GDR team at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul , but was not used in the competitions. A year later she was able to win gold three times at the World Championships in the absence of Birgit Schmidt . In 1990, before German reunification, she moved to KG Essen and competed at the World Championships for the Federal Republic and won a gold and a bronze medal. In the following year she was able to become world champion in single kayak and four-man kayak twice .

After some disputes with Birgit Schmidt and the Olympic qualification she lost in one and two, she was only able to take part in the four-man at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona and won the silver medal together with Birgit Schmidt, Anke von Seck and Ramona Portwich .

For this she was awarded the silver bay leaf on June 23, 1993.

When she was not nominated for the World Championships in 1993, she resigned and emigrated to Australia a year later. There she started again with canoe racing and won bronze in a two-man at the 1996 Games in Atlanta and, four years later, in Sydney also bronze in a single for Australia. In 2003 she tried to return to Germany in the meantime, but participation in the World Cup failed because the Australian Canoe Association gave its approval too late.
