There were five different in-line six-cylinder engines to choose from. Four of them were variants of the 4.0 l R6 Speed Six with different power and torque levels. The remaining one was the 3.6L R6 Speed Six with the same output as the weakest 4.0L, albeit a little less torque.

Type Displacement Bore × stroke power Torque construction time
Tuscan 3.6 L 3605 cc 96 × 83 mm 257 kW (350 hp) at 7500 rpm 389 Nm at 5750 rpm

chassis

Although there have been many small changes to the chassis and wheel suspension of the Tuscan, the size and appearance of the individual variants have hardly changed, apart from smaller aerodynamic aids for the S in the form of a "saucer" at the front and a small rear spoiler.

In October 2005 the Mark II version was introduced, which was only a minor facelift. The modifications were limited to cosmetic changes to the headlights, taillights, the rear spoiler (model S) and the front spoiler was replaced by two "winglets" (model S) plus some minor changes to the chassis to improve handling. At the same time, a full convertible was introduced instead of the Targa version.

Performance

  • 0–50 km / h: 1.73 s
  • 0–100 km / h: 3.68 s
  • 0–160 km / h: 8.08 s
  • 160–0 km / h: 4.15 s

It is remarkable that these values come from a Tuscan S (from 2003) that has neither ASR nor ABS . TVR's philosophy says that such technical systems do not increase performance or safety, so they are not built in. TVR does not recognize that these systems, like airbags , are safety systems and believes that, based on tests and experience, their cars are safer without them than with them.

Trivia

  • The Tuscan is driven by the character Gabriel (played by John Travolta ) in the film Password Swordfish . After the film was released, TVR received around 50 inquiries a day about where to buy the car in the USA. However, the tuscan is not approved in the USA because it does not comply with the emission regulations there.
