William Binnie
William Harrison "Bill" Binnie (born February 2, 1958 in Glasgow ) is an American entrepreneur, politician and former racing car driver and racing team owner of Scottish descent.
education and profession
William Binnie was born in Glasgow, but moved to the United States with his parents at the age of five and soon after received US citizenship . After studying at Harvard University , he attended Harvard Business School and after completing his apprenticeship took a consulting position at McKinsey & Company .
Binnie quickly made a name for himself as an expert in buying and selling businesses on behalf of investors . Within a short period of time, he acquired six plastic manufacturers producing household and utility goods . This included Polytech from Minneapolis and American Western from Sioux Falls . From the six companies he formed the stock corporation Carlisle Plastics , of which he was CEO from 1985 to 1994. In 1996 he held 62.5% of the shares and thus the majority of shares in the company. At the end of the year he sold the shares in Tyco International .
He was the youngest chairman in the history of the New York Stock Exchange in the early 1990s and invested his fortune in mass media in the years that followed .

William Binnie was running for the 2010 Senate election in the state of New Hampshire to run for the Republican Party . But he failed with his campaign and was only third behind Kelly Ayotte and Ovide Lamontagne in the primary.
Racing driver and team boss
William Binnie has always had a passion for motorsport and racing cars, some of which he maintained himself. In the late 1990s, he mainly competed in historic car races. In 1999 he drove a Jaguar D-Type at the Monterey Historic Festival and a Maserati 300S in the framework program for the 2002 24 Hours of Le Mans .
He started professional sports in 2004 and founded his own racing team, Binnie Motorsports , in 2005 . The wealthy Binnie financed the use of the LMP2 vehicles in the following years . He made his debut at the Le Mans race in 2004 with a class win in the LMP2 class, which he repeated in 2007 . He drove in the American and European Le Mans Series and in 2006 achieved sixth place overall in the 1000 km race at Spa-Francorchamps and the 1000 km race at the Nürburgring . His last race was at the Sebring 12-hour race in 2012 , where he finished 49th.
