Allen Timpany (born May 30, 1956 in Brighton ) is a former English racing driver and entrepreneur .

Career

Allen Timpany began his motorsport career in 1980 with a Van Diemen in the British Formula Ford Championship . When the first successes failed to materialize, he left the racing scene again, completed his studies at the University of Bath and made a career in the English telecommunications industry. Until 2008 he was a board member at Vanco PLC. When the company was taken over by Reliance Communications , Timpany lost this position.

In 2003, at the age of 47, he found his way back to motorsport and achieved some success in sports cars . In 2005 he won the English Global GT Lights series with victories in Snetterton , Anglesey , Mondello Park and Oulton Park . For Binnie Motorsport, who started a Lola B05 / 40 in 2005, he drove several races in the Le Mans Endurance Series and the American Le Mans Series and achieved several podium finishes in the LMP2 category from 2005 to 2007. Including a third place in the Sebring 12-hour race and a second place in the 1000 km race at the Nürburgring . In 2006, he also made his debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and classified himself thirteenth in the overall standings and second in the LMP2. In 2007, when he competed for the second time in Le Mans, he won the LMP2 class together with team principal William Binnie and Chris Buncombe on a Lola-B05 / 42- Zytek . In addition, from 2006 Timpany started in some races of the Classic Endurance Racing , a historical companion series of the Le Mans Series. In 2008 William Binnie's team took a break due to an illness in his personal environment.
