Spa-Francorchamps 1000 km race 2007

The precipitated by a wheel bearing damage Peugeot 908 HDi FAP of Marc Gene and Nicolas Minassian at the start and finish line

The 24th 1000 km race of Spa-Francorchamps , also 1000 km of Spa, Le Mans Series, Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps , took place on August 19, 2007 in Spa-Francorchamps and was the fourth round of the Le Mans Series of this Year.

The race

As in the first three championship races of the season, the two diesel- powered Peugeot 908 HDi FAPs were the favorites for overall victory in Spa . The Le Mans prototypes were driven by Marc Gené , Nicolas Minassian , Pedro Lamy and Stéphane Sarrazin . Nicolas Minassian was able to achieve the fastest lap time in qualifying and with a time of 2: 00.105 minutes he failed just barely at the 2-minute mark. It was the fourth pole position in a row for the Peugeot team with starting number 7. Once again, the gap between the competition and the two Peugeot was enormous. Stefan Mücke was four seconds slower in the third-placed Lola B07 / 17 on his fastest lap.

The race was decided by a defective wheel bearing on the Peugeot from Gené and Minassian, who had to park the car in the pits at an early stage of the race. As a result, teammates Lamy and Sarrazin celebrated their third overall victory in a row.
