The 2007 Valencia 1000 km race , also known as the 1000 Kilometers of Valencia, Circuit de la Comunitat Valenciana , took place on May 6th at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit and was the second round of the Le Mans Series this year.

The race

At the race on the Circuit Ricardo Tormo, the Peugeot 908 HDi FAP made its second works outing . Marc Gené starts from pole position in the number 7 Peugeot. With a time of 1: 23.489 minutes, he distanced the second Peugeot by 0.441 seconds. In the LMP2 class lapped Michael Vergers in the Zytek 07S the course in 1: 25.606 minutes and started from 4. Training place on the grid. As in Monza , the fastest qualifying times for the GT vehicles went to the ORECA and IMSA Performance teams .

Similar to Monza, the two factory Peugeots were able to gain a considerable lead right after the start. The possible double victory for Peugeot was prevented in the last hour of the race by a clutch damage on the Peugeot with the number 7. Stéphane Sarrazin and Pedro Lamy won two laps ahead of the two Lolas from Charouz Racing and Swiss Spirit.
