Ministry of Unification
The unifikační ministerstvo or ministerstvo unifikací , German Unification Ministry , officially ministerstvo pro sjednocení zákonův a organisace správy (German: Ministry for the Unification of Laws and Administrative Organization ), was a ministry established in Czechoslovakia in 1919 whose task it was to regulate the very different laws to unify in the area of the newly created state. The ministry, which had its seat in Prague, was to be active only temporarily; it was dissolved again on December 11, 1938. The ministry existed shortly after World War II .
History and tasks
After the establishment of Czechoslovakia, the so-called “ Reception Act ” 11/1918 Sb. (Article 2) of October 28, 1918 adopted the existing legislation; this meant that the old Austrian laws applied in Bohemia and Moravia, while in Slovakia and Carpathian Ukraine it was the Hungarian laws. For the purpose of standardization, the so-called Unification Ministry was set up on July 22, 1919 by Act 431/1919 Sb., Whose tasks were further specified in Government Decree 501/1921 Sb. On December 29, 1921.
The focus was on all laws and legal norms that were received, ie adopted, in 1918. The ministry should initiate their harmonization, also in coordination with other ministries, if the laws fell within their area of responsibility. In addition to standardizing the content, the ministry was also responsible for the uniform publication of the laws in the official language.
