Alexander Frei (racing driver)

Alexander Frei (born June 20, 1954 in Solothurn ) is a Swiss entrepreneur and former racing driver .

Entrepreneur

Alexander Frei first did an apprenticeship as a micro-mechanic and then an apprenticeship as a micro-engineer. The owner of a water treatment company took over Egli Motorradtechnik AG, founded by Fritz Egli in 2015 .

Alexander Frei lives in Engelberg , is married and has two children.

Career in motorsport

Frei was active as a GT and sports car driver in the 2000s . He achieved his first successes on a Lamborghini Diablo . With this racing car model, he finished seventeenth overall at the Spa-Francorchamps 24-hour race in 2001 and 2002 . In 2003 he contested a season in the French GT championship and became a regular driver at Courage Compétition . At the end of the year he secured first place in the final ranking of the LMP2 class of the Le Mans Series .

In the same year he made his debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans . He competed four times in the 24-hour race in western France. His best placement in the final ranking was eighth overall in 2005 ; with partners Christian Vann and Dominik Schwager in the Courage C60 Hybrid .

Frei contested races until the end of 2009. His last racing season was for Reiter Engineering in the 2009 FIA GT3 European Championship .
