Price Cobb
Price Cobb (born December 10, 1954 in Dallas ) is a retired American racing driver .
Career in motorsport
Price Cobb began his career in North American single-seater -Nachwuchsserien. In 1976 he was second behind Gilles Villeneuve in the IMSA Formula Atlantic Series , a racing series that he finished in 1978 behind Howdy Holmes and Keke Rosberg as third overall. He was also runner-up in the US Formula Super Vau Championship in 1983 .
The American achieved his greatest successes in sports car racing. From 1984 he drove regularly in the IMSA GTP series . In 1985 he won his first sports car race with the 500 km race in Columbus . His racing partner in the Porsche 962 was Drake Olson . In 1986 he finished the championship after victories in Riverside (with Rob Dyson ), Charlotte (with Olson) and Sears Point (with Dyson) and five other podium finishes behind Al Holbert in second place. Also in 1987 he finished the championship in this position. In 1988 he finished third in the championship and also finished third in the All Japan Sports Prototype Championship .
He competed six times in the 24 Hours of Le Mans and won the race in 1990 together with Martin Brundle and John Nielsen in a Jaguar XJR-12 LM . Cobb was active as a driver until 2007 and also led an Indy Racing League team for which Roberto Guerrero and Jim Guthrie competed in 1998 and 1999 .
