Robert Richard "Rob" Dyson (born June 21, 1946 ) is a former American car racing driver and racing team owner.

Career in motorsport

Rob Dyson began his driving career in 1974 on a Datsun 510 in the SCCA . In 1981 he founded his own racing team with Dyson Racing and began professional motorsport. In the first few years he drove a Datsun 200SX and then a Pontiac Firebird in the IMSA-GTP series . He celebrated his first overall victory in the 1986 Riverside 6-hour race . His partner in the Porsche 962 was Price Cobb . In the early 1990s, he became one of the top drivers in the series.

In 1995 he acquired the first Riley & Scott Mk III - Chassis . His racing team won a total of 36 sports car races with this racing car model. Dyson drove the car in the American Le Mans Series and three times in the Sebring 12 Hours . Dyson competed in car races until the end of the 2007 season and then concentrated on the role of team boss of his racing team. His greatest success as a driver was overall victory in the 1997 Daytona 24 Hours .
