Almo Coppelli

Almo Coppelli (born February 22, 1958 in Milan ) is a former Italian racing driver .

Career

Almo Coppelli began his career in Formula Ford in 1978 . Further monoposto attempts in Formula 3 and Renault were largely unsuccessful.

From 1984 Coppelli competed in sports car races. In the sports car world championship in 1984 he drove an Alba AR2 in the group C2 classification, in which the overall classification also won. In the following years he became a regular starter in international sports car races and competed for various racing teams. In the United States he drove for the team of Giampiero Moretti , in Europe, among others, for Spice Engineering , Kremer Racing and in the 1990s for the racing team of Riccardo Agusta . He competed eleven times in Le Mans ; with the best placement in 1992 when he was eleventh overall.

Coppelli remained active until 2009 (the last few years he competed in the British GT Championship) and retired from racing at the end of the season.
