The Venturi 600LM was a sports car for motorsport, which was introduced by Venturi in 1993 .

Development history and technology

The 600LM was a GT racing car that Venturi developed for its own works team and wealthy customers for use in the BPR Global GT Series . The 600LM was a further development of the 500LM . 17 chassis were completed, some of which were converted 500LM.

The cars were driven by a 3-liter V6 - PRV engine of Renault , the PS 600 made according to factory specifications.

Racing history

1994

The 600LM made its racing debut at the 4-hour race in Jarama . The race was the second round of the BPR Global GT Series in 1994 . Before the race, four chassis were delivered to four teams, but only three cars started. Michel Trollé , who made a comeback for a race, and Pascal Witmeur drove the car of Stéphane Ratel , one of the founders of the racing series. Jacques Tropenat and Ferdinand de Lesseps entered the race for the BBA Compétition. The third Venturi was reported by Jacadi Racing and driven by Michel Ferté and Michel Neugarten . All three cars failed prematurely.

In the third race of the season, the 4-hour race in Dijon , five 600LM entered the race, all of which started. There was a surprising double victory for the racing car model. Michel Ferté and Michel Neugarten won in front of the 600LM registered by Riccardo Agusta , which was driven by Philippe Olczyk and Almo Coppelli .

The next race also brought an overall victory. On the oval course at Montlhéry , Jean-Claude Basso and Henri Pescarolo won the 1000 km race in Paris on the LM009 chassis . Ironically, at the 24-hour race of Le Mans , which is so important for French teams , no 600LM was included in the ranking.

The season then brought two more successes. Michel Ferté and Michel Neugarten won the 4-hour race in Spa-Francorchamps and Ferté won the race at Silverstone, which is part of the British GT Championship .

1995 and 1996

In 1995 the 600LM, which were so competitive in the previous year, could no longer be piloted with the same success. The best result was fourth overall for Michel Faraut , François Birbeau and Éric Graham in the 1000 km race in Paris .

From 1996 the 600LM disappeared in the back field of sports car races. Success in the top field could no longer be achieved with the racing car model.
