Venturi Paris SA , previously Manufacture de Voitures de Sport and Venturi SA , was a French manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

Claude Poiraud that before in Alpine worked, and Gérard Godfroy, who as a designer for Peugeot worked, founded in 1984 in Cholet , the company Manufacture de Voitures de Sport and presented in the same year their first model. It had the brand name MVS and the model name Venturi . The next design followed in 1986, now under the brand name Venturi . Series production began in April 1987. In 1990 the company moved to Couëron . The company Keinath offered the vehicles from 1992 for a short time in Germany. In 1994 a consortium of French industrialists and bankers took over the company and renamed the company Venturi SA . In 1996, Seree Rakvit took over the company from the Thai Nakarin-Benz Group, which now traded as Venturi Paris SA . In 1998, Auto Americas took over from Australia . At the time, the number of employees dropped from a previous high of 150 to 30. In February 2000, the company went into liquidation . Venturi Automobiles from Monaco took over the remainder.

Racing

Venturi in Formula 1: The Venturi LC92 (1992 season)

Around sixty drivers competed for the Pasha Gentlemen Drivers Trophy at the in-house Venturi Challenge Cup. In 1994 Venturi won the European GT Championship with its 600 hp racing vehicles , thus prevailing against the competition from Porsche and Ferrari .

Venturi was the majority owner of the French Formula 1 team Larrousse for a year from autumn 1991 . The racing team entered the 1992 Formula 1 season under the name Venturi Larrousse ; the car used by the team was named Venturi LC92 in 1992 . In fact, Venturi did not have any influence on the fortunes of the team, which was still led by Gérard Larrousse ; Venturi was also not involved in the development of the LC92. The engagement ended in August 1992 after Venturi sold its team shares to an investment group due to economic difficulties.
