The Société Anonyme d'Études et de Construction Automobiles et Motocycles , SECAM for short , was a French manufacturer of automobiles .
Company history
The Chambly company started manufacturing automobiles in 1975. The brand name was Addax . Around 2400 vehicles were built in 1977. From 1977 SECAM also offered the Charly model from Autozodiaco . In 1978 Vitrex Industrie took over production and marketed the vehicles as Vitrex .

The company manufactured mini cars with three wheels. The single wheel was in the front. The open body was made of polyester and was available in five colors. The vehicle was 183 cm long and 112 cm wide. In addition to a normal hood, there was also the Bord de mer version , the hood of which was canopy-like. A single - cylinder two-stroke engine from Sachs with a displacement of 47 cm³ and normally 2.6 hp provided the drive . The maximum speed was given as 45 km / h. In the sports version, the engine developed 4.3 hp. The new prices in 1975 were 6110 French francs for the normal version, 7587 francs for the bord de mer and 8043 francs for the sports version .
In 1976, a Morini engine with 4 hp powered the most powerful model.
In 1977 the models and engines remained unchanged. The base model cost 7500 francs and the sport 9100 francs. Three quarters of production was accounted for by the base model, the rest in roughly equal parts for the other two models.
In 1978 prices were 8,046 francs for the base model and 9,784 for the sport . For comparison: The Charly cost 12,218 francs.
