Jidé was a French car brand.

Company history

Jacques Durand, who previously worked for ATLA , Chappe et Gessalin , SERA and Sovam , founded the company of the same name in Châtillon-sur-Thouet in 1969 and began producing automobiles . The brand name was Jidé , derived from the initials of Jacques Durand. In 1974 production was temporarily stopped. By then, fewer than 100 vehicles had been built. In 1977 the Société des Automobiles Jidé from Cherves-de Cognac started production again. In 1978 Club Jidé France from Bergerac took over the production under the direction of Jacques Herment. From 1980 the production took place in La Force. 1981 was finally over. The vehicles were also available as kit cars .

Sports cars were on offer. The coupé body offered space for two people. The engines were mounted in the middle of the vehicle . There was a choice of four-cylinder engines that Renault used in the Renault 8 , 8 S, 8 Gordini, 12 and 16 models.

The following models / engines were offered:

  • 1100, with 1108 cm³ displacement and optionally 43 or 53 hp
  • 1300, with 1289 cm³ displacement and 48 hp
  • 1300 Gordini, with 1255 cm³ displacement and 88 hp
  • 1600, with 1565 cm³ displacement and 85 hp
  • 1600 Gordini, with 1565 cm³ displacement and 113 hp.

After production resumed, the 1600 S appeared . Alternatively, a Gordini engine with a capacity of 1300 cm³ and the engine from the Renault 20 with a capacity of 2000 cm³ were available.
