Flipper SARL was a French manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The company was part of SEAB (Société d'Etudes et Applications de Brevets). It was founded in 1978 in Villejuif for the production of automobiles. The brand name was Flipper . Roland de la Poype was the designer. Production ended in 1984.

The company manufactured micro cars. The body of the first Flipper I model was made of plastic and offered space for two people. There are different details about the dimensions and weights: The vehicle was 244 cm long, 129 cm wide, 140 cm high and weighed 210 kg, according to a source. 200 cm long, 117 cm wide and 139 kg according to another source. A special feature was the narrow track width of the front wheels, which could be rotated 360 degrees. The engine was mounted in the front of the vehicle and drove the front wheels. There was a choice of built-in engines from Sachs with a displacement of 47 cm³ and Motobécane with a displacement of 50 cm³.

The somewhat more conventional Flipper II model followed in 1980 with a wider front track width.

The last model was the open Donky , released in 1981 . It was driven by a Polymécanique motor .
