Atla

ATLA was a French manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

Jacques Durand founded the company in Garches in 1957 . He was assisted by Charles Cusson, who designed the chassis , and Jean Schwab, who was responsible for sales. In 1958 the production of automobiles began. The brand name was Atla . The vehicles were available both complete and as a kit. Production ended in 1960. A total of 27 vehicles were built.

The models 750 and 850 were on offer . They were little sports cars. The specialty of the small coupé was the plastic body and the gullwing doors . With a wheelbase of 220 cm and a track width of 125 cm, the vehicle was 385 cm long, 150 cm wide and 125 cm high. The curb weight was 495 kg to 510 kg, depending on the engine. The complete vehicles cost between 860,000 French francs and 950,000 francs in 1958, depending on the engine .

21 vehicles received four-cylinder engines from Renault with a choice of 750 cm³ or 850 cm³ displacement . The engine was mounted in the rear and drove the rear axle.

In vehicles, a 6 was two-cylinder engine of Panhard mounted with 850 cc capacity. These models had a front engine and front wheel drive .
