The Société Véhicule Léger à Moteur was a French manufacturer of automobiles . The brand name was Vélam .

Company history

The Suresnes company started producing automobiles in 1955. The brand name was Vélam . Production ended in 1957. In 1961 a prototype was created .

vehicles

The only production model was a manufacture under license of the Iso Isetta with some changes that affected, among others, the headlights, the bumpers and the front wings. The single-cylinder engine from the ISO Isetta with 236 cm³ displacement and 10  hp provided the drive . In 1957, the revised version Écrin appeared with trapezoidal side windows and a fixed roof. The length of the vehicle was 2.38 meters.

Production figures: 1224 in 1955, 4886 in 1956 and 1005 in 1957. Together that was 7115 vehicles.

In 1961 the prototype TA 6 was created for Kaiser-Ilin from Israel . An air-cooled two-cylinder engine with a displacement of 640 cm³ provided the drive. Despite the short length of 330 cm, the vehicle offered space for six people.

Record runs

The French racing drivers Peslier and Bianchi set some records with an open single-seater based on Vélam at the Autodrome de Linas-Montlhéry in the K class up to 250 cc.
