DD (car brand)

DD was a car brand from French overseas territories .

Brand history

The Frenchman Marcel Degant developed a vehicle to replace the rickshaws in Vietnam . Louis Descloitre helped him. Together they started producing automobiles in Vietnam (then French Indochina ) in 1949 . The brand name was DD . In 1949 or 1950 production ended there after six vehicles were manufactured.

Degant then founded a new company in Marrakech in what was then French Morocco . Production ran until 1950. The brand name remained DD . 36 vehicles were built here.

The only model was a tricycle (a type of auto rickshaw ) with a single front wheel. An engine of Jonghi with 125 cc displacement powered vehicles. Behind the driver there was space for two passengers.
