Citroën Xe Hoi Cong Ty , previously Société Automobile d'Extrême-Orient , was a South Vietnamese manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

In 1936, Citroën founded the Société Automobile d'Extrême-Orient company in what was then French Indochina . In 1970 it became Citroën Xe Hoi Cong Ty , based in Saigon . The production of automobiles began around 1970. The brand name for one model was Dalat . With the collapse of South Vietnam in 1975, production ended.

vehicles

Multipurpose vehicles appeared under the Dalat brand . They were similar to the Citroën Méhari and, like this, were based on the chassis of the Citroën 2 CV . The body was made of steel . The vehicles were powered by a two - cylinder boxer engine with a capacity of 602 cm³ .
