Company history

Antonio Monge and Robert Rowe founded the company in Paris in 1949 and began producing automobiles in 1950. The brand name was Callista . Raymond Gaillard , who later founded Automobiles Arista , sold the vehicles in his car dealership Grand Garage Molière at 64 rue du Ranelagh in the 16th arrondissement in Paris. Production ended in 1952. A total of 24 vehicles were built.

The company made sports cars. The chassis of Panhard vehicles formed the basis of the vehicles. The air-cooled two-cylinder engine from Panhard Dyna X provided the drive . 79.5 mm bore and 75 mm stroke resulted in 745 cm³ displacement . The normal version of the engine developed 33 HP . A dual carburetor system and 38 hp was available for an extra charge.

The Coupe des Alpes model was a two- or four-seater convertible . The body was created by Société Callista. With a wheelbase of 213 cm and a track width of 122 cm, the vehicle was 410 cm long, 149 cm wide and 135 cm high. The curb weight was given as 600 kg. The vehicles could reach a top speed of 130 km / h. The original price was 930,000 French francs in 1950 for the two-seater. The rear seat bench and backrest cost 15,000 francs extra.

The Ranelagh model was a roadster . The Société Dijon-Tourisme manufactured the bodies. The vehicles were also used in car races. With the same wheelbase and track width as the Cabriolet, the Roadster was 362 cm long, 150 cm wide and 110 cm high. The curb weight was lower at 510 kg and the top speed was higher at 135 km / h. The new price was also 930,000 francs.

The Coupé Auteuil did not go into series production. The problem was accommodating four seats with the initially unchanged wheelbase of 213 cm. Only later was the wheelbase extended to 235 cm.
