Corre-La Licorne was a French manufacturer of automobiles from Levallois-Perret .

Company history

When the founder Jean-Marie Corre left the Société Française des Automobiles Corre company in 1907 , new vehicles were developed that were marketed as Corre-La Licorne . From 1934/35 only La Licorne was used as a brand name . Production ended in 1950.

Initially there were single-cylinder and two-cylinder models with built-in engines from De Dion-Bouton , which developed between 8 and 20 hp . In 1909 a four-cylinder model appeared with a Chapuis-Dornier engine with a displacement of 2120 cm³ .

After the First World War , a small four-cylinder model with a Ballot engine with a capacity of 1244 cc appeared, which was replaced in 1928 by the 5 CV model, which had a capacity of 905 cc. The 6 CV model and later the 8 CV model with 1450 cm³ displacement were derived from the 5 CV .

In 1937 a model appeared that was similar to the Citroën Traction Avant 11 CV . It was followed in 1939 by the new 6 CV and 8 CV models . In the 1930s, La Licorne obtained part of its bodies from Antem . During the Second World War , the Aéric 8 CV was equipped with an electric motor . 1949 appeared as a prototype of the 14 CV as a convertible.

A vehicle of this brand can be seen in the Musée Automobile Reims Champagne in Reims .

Sports successes

From 1923 to 1926 Corre-La Licorne used various models in the Le Mans 24-hour race . In 1925, Louis Balart and Robert Doutrebente achieved eighth place in the overall standings in a Corre-La Licorne W15 and won the class for vehicles between 1.1 and 1.5 liters.
