De la Chapelle Frères et Compagnie was a French manufacturer of bicycles , motorcycles and automobiles .

Company history

The brothers Guy and Charles De la Chapelle founded the bicycle production company in Cormatin in 1900 . In 1903 the production of motorcycles began. In 1907 the company moved to Saint-Chamond and started producing automobiles. The brand name was Stimula . Vehicle production ended in 1914. A total of around 1000 automobiles were built. The company existed until 1920.

A descendant of the company owners founded the new De La Chapelle company for automobile production at the same location in the 1970s .

The first 8 CV model had a single cylinder engine , which probably came from De Dion-Bouton . There were also the four-cylinder models 8 CV or 10/12 CV with 1726 cm³ and 12 CV or 16/20 CV with 2815 cm³ displacement .

A vehicle from this manufacturer can be viewed in the Koller Heldenberg Vintage Car Museum in Heldenberg .
