Leyat was a French manufacturer of automobiles .
Company history
Marcel Leyat (1885–1986) began building unusual cars in small series in 1913. The brand name was Leyat , and occasionally Hélica . Production ended in 1927. A total of around 30 vehicles were built.

The body was modeled on an airplane fuselage and had no fenders. An air-cooled two-cylinder built -in engine from ABC was used, which was later replaced by a three-cylinder engine. Instead of power transmission by means of a cardan or chain to an axle, the vehicles had a large propeller at the bow .
A vehicle of this brand can be seen in the Musée des arts et métiers in Paris .
