The Société Nouvelle des Autos Sizaire was a French manufacturer of automobiles.

Company history

The brothers Maurice (1877–1970) and Georges Sizaire (1880–1934) produced large luxury cars in addition to the small cars from Sizaire-Naudin from 1913 in the Société Nouvelle des Autos Sizaire with the help of the English partner and importer Frederick William Berwick. The brand name was Sizaire-Berwick . Production initially took place in Courbevoie . The main market was England , which took up 80 percent of production. The specimens destined for England were mostly given their body by Berwick's body shop in Highgate . 139 vehicles were built up to the outbreak of the First World War .

Berwick built a new plant in Park Royal in 1915 , initially producing aircraft . In 1919 Berwick founded FW Berwick & Co. Ltd. and began production of the British Sizaire-Berwick at Park Royal in 1920, which were manufactured until 1925.

The American Burke took over the French company in 1919. He first imported the vehicles from Berwick. Two new models were created later. At the end of 1922, the three company founders were no longer active in the company. The two Sizaire brothers had founded Sizaire Frères , and Berwick was involved in Windsor . Production in Courbevoie ended in 1927. Today four vehicles from French production are known.

vehicles

The first model had a built-in engine from Decolange with a displacement of 3014 cm³ . There was also the 20 CV model with a displacement of 4000 cm³. The grille looked very similar to the grille on Rolls-Royce models .

After the First World War, a model was created based on an unspecified British model that received an engine with OHV valve control . In addition, a model was a eight-cylinder - inline engine from Lycoming in the range.

A French-made vehicle of this brand is exhibited in the Musée Henri Malartre in Rochetaillée-sur-Saône . Another belongs to the collection of the Musée Automobile Reims Champagne in Reims .

A surviving 20 CV from 1914 with the British registration number SB 785 was auctioned on February 19, 1996 by Christie's auction house for £ 36,150 . The vehicle was rated 4 at the time.
