The SA des Automobiles Jean Gras was a French manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

Jean Gras founded the automobile production company in 1924. The location was the former factory of Philos in Lyon . In the same year, the first vehicles were presented at the Paris Motor Show. The brand name was Jean Gras . Production ended in 1930. A total of around 200 vehicles were built.

The Type A had a four-cylinder engine from CIME with OHC valve control and 1494 cm³ displacement . The Type B also had a four-cylinder engine of CIME, but with Overhead valves and 1200 cc capacity. These models had a conventional chassis and had Perrot four-wheel brakes . The most common body style was a sedan with six side windows, but the range also featured a Coupé de Ville and a touring car . The vehicles were also used in car races.

In 1926 or 1927 a model followed with a six-cylinder engine with OHV valve control and 1557 cm³ displacement. This model had a lower frame. The production of the six-cylinder models took place in the Construction Électriques et Mécaniques branch in Dijon .

A vehicle of this brand can be seen in the Musée Henri Malartre in Rochetaillée-sur-Saône .
