Challand-Saint-Anselme (Walser German z'undra Tschallanh ) is an Italian commune in the autonomous region of Aosta Valley . The community has 751 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019), is located at an average altitude of 1030  m slm and has a size of 27 km². The inhabitants are called challandins . Challand-Saint-Anselme is a member of the Unité des Communes valdôtaines Évançon and is located in the Ayas Valley , a side valley of the Aosta Valley.

Challand-Saint-Anselme consists of the districts Allésaz, Arbaz, Bachan, Châtillonet, Corliod, Maé, Moussanet, Orbeillaz, Quinçod, Pésan, Plésod, Ruvére, Tollégnaz and Tilly. The neighboring municipalities are Brusson , Challand-Saint-Victor , Émarèse and Issime .

During the time of fascism , the village had the Italianized name of Villa Sant'Anselmo .

history

On June 26, 1928, the municipality of Challand-Saint-Anselme was merged with the municipality of Challand-Saint-Victor by decree 1088. The new parish was called Challant. The merger was reversed on September 12, 1946. Until 1976, the official spelling of the parish Challan was t -Saint-Anselme.
