Morgex is an Italian commune in the Aosta Valley region of Italy . It is located at 923  m slm and has 2123 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) on an area of ​​around 44 km². Morgex lies on the orographic left side of the Dora Baltea . The inhabitants are called Morgeassins (French) or Mordzaheun ( Patois ) in the Italian Alps

Morgex is the main town of the Valdigne , the upper part of the Aosta Valley. In ancient Rome , the hamlet was called Morgentia or Morgentium .

The vines for the Blanc de Morgex et de La Salle , a fresh and dry white wine, grow in vineyards above the village .

During the time of fascism , the place was called Valdigna d'Aosta .
