Blanc de Morgex et de La Salle

The Blanc de Morgex et de La Salle wine-growing region belongs to the DOC appellation Valle d'Aosta or Vallée d'Aoste in the Italian region of Aosta Valley and is a sub-zone there. The terraced vineyards with only 15 hectares of vineyards are 1000 to 1300  m slm left and right of the Dora Baltea . In the middle of the 20th century, these vineyards were supposed to be abandoned, but the then parish administrator of Morgex, Abbé Alexandre Bougeat (1916–1972) started a movement to save this area by convincing important wine critics of the country such as Luigi Veronelli of the right to exist of the wines.

The distinctive Alpine location of the vineyards earned the wine the nickname "Bianco dei ghiacciai" ( white wine from the glaciers).
