history

Finds of paleontological origin indicate that the site was used as early as the Iron Age . In the Middle Ages the village was part of the Signoria of Cly . Economically, it was closely linked to the municipality of Châtillon .

Demographic development of the community

During the fascist era , the village was given the Italianized name La Maddalena d'Aosta . Until 1959, La Magdeleine was not accessible from a paved road. The village was connected to the valley ( Antey-Saint-André ) by a mule track. These mule tracks are still usable today, although they are used for tourist purposes.

Over time, the community has lost a great number of residents, as many have emigrated or moved to the cities.

geography

The village lies at the foot of the Mont Tantané mountain , which is a little less than 2700 m. ü. M. is high.
