The name comes from Torgnon , from Latin Vallis Tornenchia became Valtournenche in French. The valley is a left side valley of the Aosta Valley in Italy . It leads from the Breuil basin at the foot of the Matterhorn and Theodul Pass almost exactly south to Châtillon . It is about 22 km long and the Marmore Brook flows through it. The valley is narrow and the floor of the middle and lower Valtournanche is hardly populated. Three of the four communities here are on the slope above the valley.
At the same time Valtournenche the name of the political community of the upper Valtournenche.
