Location and dates
The community has 314 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019).
It consists of the districts (ital. Frazioni, French Hameaux) Sannmatto (Sandmatten), Tache, Ònderemwoald, Òndre Eselbode, Òbre Eselbode, Rèfetsch, Stòtz, Nétschò, Collete Sann, Ejò, Gòver, Stéde, hréò, rsio Tschòbéschhus, Bédémie, Tschòcke, Montery, Gabiet, Héché, Selbsteg, Ònder Bät, Òber Bät, Biel, Tòlo, Wòaldielé, Anderbät, Stafal, Tschaval, Òbrò Dejelò, Òndro Dejelò.
It is located in the Lystal and belongs to the Union of Aosta Valley Walser Communities . The neighboring communities are Alagna Valsesia ( VC ), Ayas , Gressoney-Saint-Jean , Riva Valdobbia (VC), Zermatt (CH-VS).
Language and history
The community has a Walser population and is therefore traditionally German-speaking. In Walser German , the municipal territory is called Upper Part, the Center en de Tache .
