Introd is an Italian commune in the autonomous region of Aosta Valley . The community has 652 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019), is at an average altitude of 880 m slm and is 20 km² in size. In French , the inhabitants are called Introleins . In Franco-Provençal , the men are called Le-z-Èntrolèn , the women Le-z-Èntrolèntse .
Introd consists of the districts of Bioley, Buillet, Chevrère, Crée, Délliod, Junod, Les Combes, Norat, Plan d'Introd, Tâche, Villes Dessous, Villes Dessus, Orvieille, Arpilles and Parriod. The neighboring municipalities are Arvier , Rhêmes-Saint-Georges , Valsavarenche and Villeneuve .
Introd lies at the junction of the Dora di Rhêmes (French: Doire de Rhêmes ) and Savara . The name Introd probably comes from the French Entre [les] eaux from the Latin Inter aquas (German: between the waters). The municipality is located at the entrance to the Gran Paradiso National Park .
During the time of fascism , the village had the Italianized name Introdo .
During the summer, Popes John Paul II and Benedict XVI. part of the summer holidays in the hamlet of Les Combes.
With the Lo Triolet winery , Introd owns one of the figureheads of viticulture in the Aosta Valley.
