Gignod is an Italian commune in the autonomous region of Aosta Valley . The community has 1741 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019), lies on the orographic left side of the Dora Baltea at an average altitude of 988  m slm and has a size of 28 km².

The municipality belongs to the Unité des Communes valdôtaines Grand-Combin and is its main town. It consists of the districts (Italian Frazioni, French Hameaux) Arliod, Arsanières, Buthier-Gorrey, Buthier-Verney, Caravex, Chambavaz, Champex, Champlong, Champlorençal, Champorcher, Chatellair, Chef-lieu, Chez Courtil, Chez Henry, Chez Percher, Chez Roncoz, Chez Roux, Chez Sentin, Clémencey, Colière, Cré, Crou, Faverge, Fiou, Gorrey, La Bédégaz, La Cau, La Chériéty, La Clusaz, La Condéminaz, La Forge, La Minchettaz, La Ressaz, Le Château, Les Côtes, Lexert, Maisonnettes, Meylan, Montjoux, Moré, Moulin, Petit-Quart, Perre-Besse, Plan-Château, Plan-Meylan, Planet-Côte, Planet-Plan, Rovin, Roysod, Savin, Seycinod, Tercinod, Valcartey, Variney, Véclos and Véfan. Gignod is located in the lower part of the Valpelline valley, a side valley of the Aosta Valley. The place is on the main road that leads up to the Great St. Bernhard .
