Seraucourt-le-Grand is eight kilometers southwest of Saint-Quentin on the Somme and the Canal de Saint-Quentin, which runs parallel to the Somme .

During excavations of a burial site from Merovingian times jewelry and weapons were found. The place was first mentioned in 1010 as Serodi Curtis .
