The Saint-Quentin Canal runs through Omissy. The place is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Lesdins in the north, Morcourt in the east, the prefecture of Saint-Quentin in the southeast and south and the municipality of Fayet in the canton of Saint-Quentin-1 in the southwest and the municipality of Lehaucourt, which belongs to the canton of Bohain-en-Vermandois in the north-west.

Since the village was on the front line during the First World War , it was completely evacuated from December 1916.
