Lehaucourt (until 1998: Le Haucourt ) is a French municipality with 877 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the Aisne department in the region of Hauts-de-France (before 2016 Picardy ). The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Saint-Quentin (until 2015 Le Catelet ). The inhabitants are called Haucourtois .

geography

Lehaucourt is about 17 kilometers north of Saint-Quentin . The Canal de Saint-Quentin runs through the municipality . Lehaucourt is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Magny-la-Fosse in the north, Levergies in the northeast, Lesdins in the east, Omissy in the southeast, Fayet in the south and southwest, Gricourt in the west and southwest, Pontruet in the west and Bellenglise in the northwest.

history

Lehaucourt was the site of the battle of the Saint-Quentin Canal in late September 1918.
