It belongs to the arrondissement of Saint-Quentin , to the canton of Ribemont (until 2015 Saint-Simon ) and to the municipality of Saint-Quentinois .

The municipality is located about six kilometers southwest of Saint-Quentin . It is crossed by the Saint-Quentin Canal . Fontaine-lès-Clercs is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Seraucourt-le-Grand in the south, to the canton of Saint-Quentin-1 located communities Roupy the west and Savy in the northwest, Dallon in the north as well as in the District of Saint-Quentin-3 located communities Castres in the northeast and Contescourt in the southeast.

history

The village was completely destroyed in the First World War. During the Second World War , Fontaine-lès-Clercs was the location of a German command, but suffered no war-related damage.
